Pieter Weltevrede is 47 years old, married, with 3 children. He is a trained social scientist with an advanced degree.

Pieter met late Harish Johari in 1977 in Holland where he became fascinated with the healing and centering power of the ancient tantric practice of yantra painting. Over time he devoted more and more of his attention to mastering the North Indian iconographic painting techniques. Since 1988 he is traveling to India annually where he deepened his knowledge and friendship with late Harish Johari, and also studied with Johari's art teacher, Master Chandra Bal, and Suresh Johari.

The last four years Pieter got recognized and supported by the Dutch government as a Master Artist. This has given him the freedom to travel once or twice a year to India for extended stays. His output is prolific. From his zodiac paintings on silk and from the silk paintings of the nine numerological yantras, cards were published in Holland in 1992 and 1997 by Aurora productions, Alkmaar.

Under guidance of late Harish Johari Pieter illustrated the following books "The Birth of the Ganga", "The Monkeys and the Mango Tree", "Ayurvedic Massage", and the latest edition of the book "Chakras" by Harish Johari). In the works is an extensive series of children's books (see books). Pieter displayed his works at many exhibitions in Europe and the USA.

Even Hinduism Today published a number of paintings of Pieter Weltevrede - for a Dutchman entering an Indian tradition that is quite a compliment. Many paintings by Pieter Weltevrede are currently exposed at an art exposition near San Francisco.

The latest news about Pieter Weltevrede is the startup of a series of no less than 72 painting that show the various states of Being related to the chakras, as described in the Leela game of Self-Knowledge.
