Click for a larger image of the cover of Chants to the Sun and the MoonJapa - the chanting of a mantra - has been used in India from time immemorial to help one become attuned with the planets and their ruling deities. This audiocassette contains the mantras associated with the Sun and the Moon, each repeated 108 times. To practice japa with this tape, all you need to do is sit silently, after bathing, in a place that is calm and clean. You can chant with the tape and be confident that the pronunciation and number of repetitions is correct. By devoting a half hour every day to this practice, you can reap all the benefits of japa.

For maximum benefit, chant the japa of the planets whose influence on your psyche and destiny is greatest. The method for determining those planets is discussed in detail in Harish Johari's book Numerology. Although this tape, like its companion tapes containing the mantras for the other planets, may be used on its own, it is ideally used as an adjunct to that book. More information on japa can be found in Johari's books Tools for Tantra and The Healing Power of Gemstones.

The planet related to the psychic number should be befriended, and if the planet associated with the destiny number is not showing its full influence after you have passed the age of thirty-five, you should do the japa of that planet as well. In addition, you may do japa for any planet with which you wish to be in greater harmony.
It is said that in the Kali Yuga, the current age of dissolution, japa is the only method for realization of the divine within us. Japa, especially for the Sun, Moon, and planets, is a sure and time-tested method of creating calmness and hope and bringing peace and prosperity to your home.
